Bald-faced Hornet - Dolichovespula maculata

Bald-faced Hornet - Dolichovespula maculata
Fayetteville, Cumberland County, North Carolina, USA
September 30, 2005
Photo taken with a flash. Shows more white on the thorax than a lot of the ones in the guide.

Nice shot
Definitely a Baldfaced, looks like a queen. Qualifies to go along Troy's queen in the "Info" panel based on very broad pronotal stripe and great dorso-lateral view.
