Saprininae histerid

Saprininae histerid
Minot, Ward County, North Dakota, USA
June 12, 2009
Size: 4 mm
Attempting to get decent lighting on my histerids, using jeff Gruber's images as a standard, but without the luxury of a real automontage system. Collected in S. richardsonii burrows

Moved from ID Request.

adding a ventral shot would make Jeff happier...
...and increase you chances to get a confident ID

Thanks!
This was a first attempt with diffused fiberoptic lighting, ventral shot will be soon, had to remount specimen...

neat -- just what doctor prescribed
now it must be perfectly IDable

Thats a great shot...
are you using a light diffuser on the sides? It might reduce the glare from the fiberoptics. My high-tech diffusor is sheets of tracing paper on balsa frames.

yes
I am also using the cobbled together diffuser....
