Yellow Garden Spider - Argiope aurantia
They're also called "Writing Spider" due to the pattern they weave into their webs. Yours is female.

Venomous?

I'm returning to that prairie to help harvest more wildflower seeds, and would like to know if I need to watch out for more.

 
yes - to other arthropods
These spiders won't hurt a human. If you bump their web, they flee. You'd have to grab one, and make it feel threatened. Even then they aren't dangerous venomous, unless you're a cricket. :)
