Synema parvulum?? With Dinner And A Guest - Misumenoides formosipes

Synema parvulum?? With Dinner And A Guest - Misumenoides formosipes
Montrose, Laurens County, Georgia, USA
September 10, 2009
Size: approx. 5 mm
Synema parvulum is a guess, the "dinner" is unknown to me, and I will hazard the "guest" is possibly Delphacodes andromeda although those I have looked up had black rather than yellow eyes. This was early morning after rain overnight.

We don't see the blackened posterior
that we would expect with Synema, though we don't know that all have it. And the eyes look wrong for Synema. Based upon the eye pattern, we would suggest male Misumenoides formosipes. See

though the carapace color is certainly unusual.

Synema parvulum??
John and Jane,
And the body shape is a bit off, too. The eyes are definitely formosipes along with the white band. The carapace may just be a color variant of this area, do you think? I have seen others but have no photos and memory is a terrible thing to depend on for important details.

Not an expert but...
...the "dinner" looks like a Brokenbacked Bug (Taylorilygus apicalis) or something close...

Synema parvulum??
I think you hit it right, Ron. Looking at the other lesser-quality shots I took, it matches up with yours. Thanks!

"Guest"
The "guest," that appears wide-eyed, horrified, and headed in the other direction, is some kind of delphacid planthopper. Great pic:-)
