large beetle - Thasus neocalifornicus

large beetle - Thasus neocalifornicus
Pima County, Arizona, USA
July 14, 2009
Size: about 4 cm
Seen buzzing at twilight, alighting almost exclusively on mesquite trees. Very hard shouldered. I have a whole new level of respect for the digestive tract of the Sonoran toad that ate one in my driveway.

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

A nice photo of a member of the family Coreidae-Leaffooted bugs
I'd check here to see if there are any matches.

Not an expert but...
...please see Giant Mesquite Bug (Thasus neocalifornicus).
