I originally thought that this was a C. purpurea, but am now not so sure. Just a C. limbalis that is not so showy? Many C. limbalis at this site - see my submission of a snappy C. limbalis from a few minutes ago. Comments welcomed.

I love tiger beetles,
but how on earth do you get pictures of them without capturing them? I find them most uncooperative!

They were very common, and I think that the temperature was just right. The rocks were toasty warm, but not so hot as to make them real active. My biggest problem was that this was a small area with a lot a hikers passing through.
