Multi. Asian Lady Beetle larva for Oct. in PA - Harmonia axyridis

Multi. Asian Lady Beetle larva for Oct. in PA - Harmonia axyridis
Linvilla Orchards, Media, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, USA
October 1, 2008
Size: ~10 mm
Posted as a record of how late in the year one can find H. axyridis larvae in the mid-Atlantic and northeastern U.S., following an e-mail exchange about the species' life cycle with the Lost Ladybug Project.

Adult Harmonia axyridis are notoriously alive and well (and house-invading) in late fall, but this is only the second BugGuide photos of an immature stage in October north of the Mason-Dixon line. (The other is a pupa from northern Delaware, which is exactly the same latitude as Delaware County, PA.)
