This is a male
Ponera
. These little guys are surprisingly distinct, having a cinctus between the pre- and postsclerites of abdominal segment IV, a terminal metasomal spine, and the distinctly "shouldered" parameres. Interestingly, although preliminary molecular phylogenetic results place
Ponera
and
Hypoponera
distant to one another, the males share the "shouldered" parameres (
Hypoponera
lacks the terminal spine and the strong cinctus). Ok, and finally, I am going to hazard that this is
P. pennsylvanica
. James Trager would be able to tell you about the distribution of the aptly named
P. exotica
.

Alate male ant
Interesting. Have no idea even what subfamily this is in, though it should be in either Formicinae or Ponerinae.

This is a Ponerinae
