Lucanus (Pseudolucanus) placidus - FEMALE
Likely L. placidus!

There are three members of this Genus known in the eastern US:
Lucanus elaphus
Lucanus (Pseudolucanus) capreolus
Lucanus (Pseudolucanus) placidus

Of the three Lucanus sp., L. placidus seems to have the more northern and mid-western distribution. Females of L. elaphus are typically more gracile (much thinner legs) and those of T. caprolus are stockier and have bold orange to ochreous-colored femurs.
