Unidentified Insect 99 - Camponotus

Unidentified Insect 99 - Camponotus
Vineland, Cumberland County, New Jersey, USA
September 22, 2009
Size: 1/2 inch or bigger
I think they are carpenter ants... Many of them wrere on Joe-pye Weed plant (back of every leaves) and busy doing something with tiny brown strange looking insects. I have never seen anything like this before. The tiny brown tiny insect is about 3/16 inch or less.

Moved from ID Request.

The "other" insects....
....are treehoppers (Membracidae). I think the genus is Entylia.
