Looks like the fly is laying an egg. That aphid is doomed!

Also, I didn't get a picture, but from the back it looks a lot like this one

Pam, I believe Ron was only making an educated guess that this was something in Tribe Syrphini. As per his suggestion, I think Syrphidae (Family-level) placement is the most appropriate move for now.
