Detail of cerci. See illustrations of cerci in this genus at SINA, in particular compare: C. fasciatus/C. brevipennis/C. stictomerus

Those seem to be the possible species in this genus for this part of North Carolina that have cerci roughly matching the photo. I think C. brevipennis is the best match, and the form and coloration look correct as well.
