Handsome Meadow Katydid - Orchelimum pulchellum -

Horton's Pond, Chatham County, North Carolina, USA

Size: circa 25 mm

Note the blue eyes, white face with red border, turquoise-tinged wings, and long ovipositor, curving up above the folded wings. All these seem to be distinctive for Orchelimum pulchellum. See other images in guide and Singing Insects of North America: genus page and species page.
