Kukulcania hibernalis, Southern House Spider - Kukulcania arizonica - female

Kukulcania hibernalis, Southern House Spider - Kukulcania arizonica - Female
Meadview, Mohave County, Arizona, USA
Size: 1" Diameter?
I'm in the process of moving and just found a couple of fairly large (about 1" diameter) black spiders underneath some pieces of furniture that have not been disturbed in over 4 years.

The first one got smashed before I had a chance to see it, but we managed to capture the second one. It had some fairly large dead crickets, grasshoppers and gypsy moths in it's webbing, which made me believe it was much bigger than it turned out to be.

Upon closer inspection, it almost looked like it's webbing was funnel shaped, but I've kept jumping spiders and tarantulas that made similarly tunneled webs to hide in.

Anyway, it's black and furry, with velvet-like than hair. The head and thorax seem to be smushed into one circle, which is hairless and pretty flat. Two big eyes reflect light on the top of the head, but I can't see how the others are arranged. It's abdomen has a bit of a silver sheen to it and, under the light, but I can't make out any other decernable features.

( formerly Filistata sp. )
That is a Kukulcania hibernalis, "southern house spider".

black house spider?
I found one similar in my home in Philadelphia but the one I saw in the under the abdomen it had an irredecent small purplish reddish marking on it.Is it also some type of black house spider? My husband had flushed it down the toilet before could take a picture of it. I found it on the landing of my basement steps. It was about 1/2 inches long. All the coloring the same as the southern house spider except for the the marking I had just mentioned.
