Imperial Moth - Eacles imperialis

Imperial Moth - Eacles imperialis
Anthony, Marion County, Florida, USA
September 16, 2009
Size: about 3" X 5"
I found this moth on the brick wall of the post office. It was by the front door and I generated some amusement and comments when I frantically ran to my truck and got my camera. I am sure we are all familiar with the nature of the comments: "Why would you want a picture of that?" "You're taking a picture of a bug?" Etc., etc., etc. The color of the moth blended almost perfectly with the brick wall, rendering it almost invisible from ten feet away. Beautiful creature.

ignore them..
i carry tupperware type containers in the car to rescue the moths from places they likely will not escape..and drop em off in the woods where they can live their life..if people think im weird so be it..i think people who say ewww a bug are stupid myself.
