Cropped for a better, larger view of the insect. Only one other image for Newfoundland/Labrador, and that in July, so I'm moving this to the Guide.

looks like the Elderberry Borer Longhorn Beetle
Desmocerus palliatus, to me. I don't know if there are similar looking beetles, so it's probably best to wait for additional comments to be sure.
