Robber fly - Hodophylax aridus - Male
BLM Land 13.0 km W of Valmont; 19.5 km E of White Sands National Monument, Otero County, New Mexico, USA
September 14, 2009
Size: < .5in
Found in white sand dunes at base of shrub with yellow flowers. The flowers were attracting hymenops of all sorts and sizes.

Sorry for the pic quality. These flies were very wary.
