The back had the gray/white oval, the underside had the 4 reddish spots. This spider was very aggressive.

Male trapdoor spider
This is a male trapdoor spider, possibly in the genus Ummidia, though the diagnostic features are difficult to make out. Despite their size and disposition they are harmless to people and pets. Males wander in search of mates at this time of year.
