Grasshopper - Syrbula admirabilis

Grasshopper - Syrbula admirabilis
Broken Bow in extreme SE corner of the state, McCurtain County, Oklahoma, USA
September 27, 2009
Size: Average grasshopper
A strikingly patterned grasshopper found in the grassy area under a hi-power line. The #5 on the side of the thorax appeals to this old-timer--that nascar # is driven by old-timer Mark Martin, age 50 years.

Moved from ID Request.

How cool! That's even clearer than the number on an 88 Butterfly.

Fun; I hadn't seen that one.
Common Green Darner has a CBS "eye" logo on its head. Another insect - forget which - has McDonald's arches.

NASCAR
I'm fine with the number - nice touch! - but hope we don't get into logos for multiple sponsors, or worse yet, naming rights. (I recall a race named Pork, The Other White Meat 400 and shudder to think what the admirable grasshopper might become.)

Details on the race, lest anyone think I'm exaggerating:

Admirable grasshopper
Looks like a male Syrbula admirabilis. Nice shot.
