File Katydid? - Conocephalus brevipennis - Female
Jim Thorpe, PA 18229, Carbon County, Pennsylvania, USA
October 4, 2005
Size: 1 inch approx.
That is a female right?

Moved

Correct Female Gladiator Katydid
nice specimen although highly common especially where i live, in the Midwest.

Orchelimum gladiator
I found this in Capinera, Scott, and Walker guide. Hope this helps.

Conocephalus, I think
Most of the Orchelimum females have up-curved ovipositors, even O. gladiator (see Singing Insects of North America, scroll to bottom of page). This looks more like the smaller, but similar, Conocephalus to me--they all have straight ovipositors, see Singing Insects of North America page on Conocephalus--scroll down to see the ovipositors.
