I've seen a few of these beetles in Saskatchewan on Echinacea angustifolia (2004. I also agree with Vincent's classification.

Great contribution
And good job on the id! I haven't seen these down here in Georgia but my texts say they are common over much of the East and that they are quite attractive. I'm sure this contribution will benefit many people.
