Lapposyrphus? - Dasysyrphus - female

Lapposyrphus? - Dasysyrphus - Female
Marin County, California, USA
October 5, 2009
Size: 12 mm body length
A lot of the species in this tribe look very similar, but Lapposyrphus is the closest thing I can find to my fly in terms of shape and body pattern. Scaeva also looks a lot like it.

Moved from Syrphini.

Right tribe
It's a female Dasysyrphus. (Compare the lower sets of light, broken stripes to those of Scaeva. Note rounded interior ends there, "squared off" ends here. Color's different, too.)

Re: Right tribe
Thanks! That appears to be a good match.
