Cross Spider, Araneus diadematus
I think, and they're native to Illinois.

A. cf. diadematus
I also think its A. diadematus (not round enough for trifolium, IMO), but it is a European species and presumably introduced to North America in the late 19th century. So I guess they do have a history of carpetbagging.

Shamrock Orbweaver

Does yours have the cross pat

My spider has kind of a cross
My spider has kind of a cross on the front. If you look at all the other spiders shown under this name, you'll see that there is lot of variation in the patterns and coloration of these spiders.
