Arrow spider - Phidippus - female

Arrow spider - Phidippus - Female
St. George, Washington County, Utah, USA
October 5, 2009
Size: 1/2 inch
My sister-in-law found this for me and told me she called it the "arrow" spider because of the white arrow on its back. This was a large female spider and she was solid! She clunked like a rock when I tried to dump her out of the dish she was in. Her movements were more mechanical than any other jumper I've seen, including P. Audax. Beautiful, feisty spider!
