How are you distinguishing M. notius from M. puritanus? Kaston writes that with notius the abdomen "is more generally covered with dark areas than in puritanus" and that would perhaps apply here.

 
Mimetus notius
Color is not very reliable for distinguishing M. notius from M. puritanus as far as I can tell. This was an adult female, and distinguished from puritanus based on epigynal characters. I've also collected many males (many years ago, now) which separate from puritanus better based on palpal characters. I never found any puritanus in the region, and collected fairly widely.
