Spider - Trachelas - Trachelas tranquillus

Spider - Trachelas - Trachelas tranquillus
East Brunswick, NJ, Middlesex County, New Jersey, USA
October 9, 2009
* ID'd by Eric Eaton.

I absolutely don't know spiders and this was the first I've tried to ID with no luck at all. I was taken aback by only 5 legs showing. Could several have been taken during a fight or were they tucked beneath the spider? There was no way to tell. However, because of this, I even thought that it might not be a spider at all.

Eric Eaton ID'd it as Trachelas, for which I thank him for his time and expertise. I presume this is Trachelas tranquillus. Found just out our rear kitchen door on a cool evening, near the outside light.
