Larvae from acorns - Curculio

Larvae from acorns - Curculio
Alameda County, California, USA
October 11, 2009
Size: ~3/8 in. (10 mm)
These hatched from acorns collected for the backyard squirrels. They squirmed as if they wanted to go underground to pupate. I put them and the rest of the acorns out on a patch of ground and leaf litter. No more keeping acorns in the house!

Other photos on bugguide suggest Curculio.

Moved
Moved from ID Request. I am not sure of ID, but like you say it looks quite similar and was in the right place.

I once gave a squirrel a walnut that turned out to be eaten by insects. The squirrel tried to drop the nut on my head.
