We noticed this spider in a web in the Grove of the Patriarchs in Mount Rainier National Park.

Based on the habitat, it would probably be A. nordmanni or A. saevus.
It's by no means easy to tell from the coloration - even A. marmoreus
sometimes look like this. In this habitat and site, nordmanni would be the most common.

A. bicententarius (non-Northwest) can look almost exactly like this
photo. I have a typical A. nordmanni here.

But this form is not that unusual See bugguide image.
Orbweaver coloration is just too variable.

I agree with Lynette. Here is a link to John and Jane's specimen (also found in Washington on a mountain!): A. nordmanni.
