to me, it looked like a big mosquito, but i dont know .

Elephant mosquito
It looks like a carbon copy of mine, also on goldenrod. There is only one species in the genus, so I guess that you can be pretty certain of the ID.
With those feathery antennae, it must be a male.

Probably Toxorhynchites rutilus
The larva feed on larvae of other mosquitoes and that's a good thing! These don't bite, they take nectar.
