Unknown Caterpillar - Trichoplusia ni
Newport News, Virginia, USA

Size: Approx. 1.5"
I'm wondering if this caterpillar is the same species as the one I just submitted. This one doesn't have the black dots running laterally along the length of its body. Also, this one was feeding on a tomato plant. Perhaps it's the same species with different markings associated with an earlier instar? Any help with ID is appreciated!

This larva and
have the characteristics of Looper Moth caterpillars (Plusiinae), i.e., no prolegs on A3 and A4 and the body 'tapering backwards' with a big rear end and a small head. This one (#34330) looks like a Cabbage Looper and the other a Soybean Looper.

Thanks
Thanks for your help!

I am moving this image
to the Guide Page so that it does not get lost in the ID Request. It can always be re-assigned if someone comes up with a better ID. It's too good a photo to lose!
