Potato parasites - Bactericera cockerelli

Potato parasites - Bactericera cockerelli
Alameda County, California, USA
June 20, 2009
Size: <1/8 in. (3 mm)
A few of these were on potato leaves in June, in the same places from one day to the next. Then they vanished and left tiny scars on the leaves. I suppose something ate them. Are they sucking insects? Nymphs or adults?

sucking indeed; look like psyllid nymphs to me

Okay, then, they're probably
Bactericera cockerelli (Potato Psyllid). They look enough like photos of early nymphs at the links from that species' guide page. For the record, two differences: mine were on the upper sides of leaves, not the undersides, and they were too flat to cast shadows.
