saturniid
Defineately a saturniid, the long cremaster on this one makes me think Eacles imperialis, 1.5 inches is a bit small though, perhaps the size was just inaccurate?

looks similar
to some of the saturniids. it's certainly the right size.

Pupa
Some kind of moth pupa. I don't know what kind.
