Jumping Bristletail

Jumping Bristletail
Enumclaw, Forested Unincorporated King County, Washington, USA
August 30, 2009
Size: 17mm
This was on the outer wall of my house during one of my nocturnal safaris. It was nice and shimmery when the flashlight shined on it's scales. It did quite a bit of jumping after I moved it to a better location for picture taking. I guess I would do the same had I been in its shoes...or um...tarsi. :) I'm not familiar enough with these to place it any farther than order microcoryphia. Oh, and the size of 17mm corresponds to the body only, and does not include the tails (which were almost as long as the body).
