Autumn Yellow-winged Grasshopper - Arphia xanthoptera

Autumn Yellow-winged Grasshopper - Arphia xanthoptera
Duke Forest, power line right-of-way west of NC 751, Durham County, North Carolina, USA
October 1, 2005
Size: circa 32 mm
Early October seems to be prime time for these in my area. Looking at my photographs, I've seen them October 2 to October 16. This is not a systematic survey, just when I've happened to notice them out in the field and gotten photographs. This individual was flying up and crepitating, I think, so was probably a male. Size is an estimate and was not measured in place.
