Copper Underwing - Amphipyra pyramidoides

Copper Underwing - Amphipyra pyramidoides
Parkwood, Durham County, North Carolina, USA
August 1, 2005
Size: circa 50-60 mm wingspan
Came to a lighted sheet on my back porch, but was very flighty. It looks like an Underwing (Catocala) to me, but I've no idea which one. Thanks for any help.

Aha! Copper Underwing, see, for example Lynn Scott's image. Thanks to Tony Thomas for the identification.

I'll never learn
attempting to ID NC species. Underwing Yes Catocala No.
Hows about #9368 Copper Underwing Amphipyra pyramidoides

Yes!
Excellent. Look at Lynn Scott's image, a dead ringer, I think.

Thanks!
