Aerial yellowjacket

Aerial yellowjacket "dome" nest.
Pennsylvania, USA
September 11, 2009
Size: 9" diameter 4" tall.
This is the "dome" shaped aerial yellowjackets nest I relocated to my patio June 25. It fell from its original location on July 10 and the yellowjackets adapted by building outwards. They could not build down due to the patio.
