Seen at Harlem Hills nature preserve. Habitat: gravel prairie remnant. Seen in early afternoon on a rainy day.

Autumn yellow-wing grasshopper.
This is a great shot of an autumn yellow-winged grasshopper, Arphia xanthoptera. The high, unbroken "crest" atop the pronotum, and the late date both leave little doubt.
