A lady? - Vanessa annabella

A lady? - Vanessa annabella
Alameda County, California, USA
October 21, 2009
Size: Painted Lady size
A puzzler. At first I thought this was a Painted Lady, but Painted Ladies, abundant this summer, disappeared weeks ago, and this one's colors didn't seem quite right. It doesn't meet all the criteria for an American Lady, either.

It was less approachable than the summer P. Ladies. This is the only photo I could get.

West Coast Lady
Vanessa annabella

Smaller and less numerous than Painted Lady.
