Pseudopityophthorus?

Pseudopityophthorus?
Houston, Harris County, Texas, USA
October 21, 2009
Size: ~2.2 mm
Has yellowish, fairly uniform fringe of hairs around the perimeter of the entire beetle. I'll keep it for a little while in case there's some other feature I should try to find or photograph. Of the drawings of Scolytini in Peterson beetle guide, it seems to resemble Pseudopityophthorus the most.

Came to UV light.

i think you're at least close, but...
...not sure one can tell from this pic -- i suspect even an expert [i'm not one] will need a high-res closeups of head/pronotum/antenna + rear half of elytrae

Moved from ID Request.
