Lady beetle with strange spots

Lady beetle with strange spots
Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California, USA
October 21, 2009
This lady beetle has strange 'spots' that do not look symetrical. It dropped before I could get any other shots.

Moved from ID Request.

spots, drips, and errors
the spots are symetrical, but this ladybird has additional "errors", which are fairly common, and probably due to a suboptimal larval/pupal stage.

Presented with only this view, this one is a challenge. Still, one of us is likely to get it sooner or later. (Coccinella?)

Perhaps this one?

I'll be back to look at this!
One minute left at this cybercafe. But I'm intrigued by this beetle and will check it out more when I'm online again!
