I asked about a similar egg sack a week or two ago. Did a little searching on the web when I noticed the Black-and-yellow Argiopes (Argiope aurantia) were disappearing from their webs. This matches the written description I found can any one confirm this?

certainly looks similar to the images

in the guide here but we wouldn't know how many different species have similar egg cases.

Egg sac.

The egg sac of the other common species, A. trifasciata, is shaped like a kettle drum. So, A. aurantia is the most likely ID.

Hang it in your garden.

It will stay

right where it is. It is a one minute trek from the house in an undeveloped area with flowering plants and shrubs and it is near the green lynx spiderlings I hope to document.
