Short-tailed Ichneumon Wasp - Ophion

Short-tailed Ichneumon Wasp - Ophion
Amherst, Massachusetts, USA
April 16, 2004
This adult arrived at our front porch light at night. It was quite a big wasp, approx. 20 mm in length.

According to my copy of Collins Wildguide to Insects, it looks like it may be of the subfamily Ophion. They wing veination is similar to that shown of short-tailed Ichneumons in Peterson's Guide as well ((1)p. 323).
