Tephritid fly - Trupanea femoralis

Tephritid fly - Trupanea femoralis
Aliso Canyon, Orange County, California, USA
October 18, 2009
Size: ~3mm

Moved from ID Request.

If I'm reading the wing patterns right...
it's Trupanea jonesi Curran, a female. (I know the last part's correct.)

Suggestion: On bee flies, start your post at Bee Flies. For all other flies, start at Flies (Diptera) for expert attention.

Sorry Ron, I do not agree wit
Sorry Ron, I do not agree withthe ID. I think it is femoralis. The band connecting to the pterostigma is much narrower then the pterostigma in jonesi, but broader than the pterostigma in femoralis. Also the black line along the CuA vein is long and thick in femoralis and short and smaller in jonesi. And there are two black stripes in cell dm in femoralis and only one in jonesi....
Cheers
Martin

femoralis
Thanks Martin!

Ack! I had it right, then transcribed it wrong.
Thanks for the correction, Martin. I did see the difference, but mucked things up going from the patterns to the text.
