dwarf spider #3 - Erigone dentosa - female

dwarf spider #3 - Erigone dentosa - Female
Bonney Lake, Pierce County, Washington, USA
October 24, 2009
Size: ~ 2 mm
Rod says: Erigone, probably E. aletris.

From Rod Crawford:
#3 which also had to be dissected, yielded up its secrets and is a
female Erigone dentosa. Your first female, I think.

All these spiders from the car were ballooners. E. dentosa is not as
common in western WA as E. aletris, but occurs in "pioneer species"
habitats like agricultural fields, mud flats, and recently cleared
ground. Some such place was probably the source of these ballooners.
