Zygiella or Parazygiella - female

Zygiella or Parazygiella - Female
Alameda County, California, USA
October 25, 2009
Size: ~1/4 in. (6 mm)
In her retreat 5 feet or so (1.5 m) off the ground, a simple, exposed silk shell on an upright stem of a tall cactus. The web has a missing sector. I first found this species on a conifer where the retreats were hidden among needles, but it builds webs on any convenient surface.
