illinois 09/05 katydid? - Microcentrum
Belleville, St.Clair County, Illinois, USA
July 30, 2005
Size: 3"
Not quite sure but I think this is an immature katydid - from the wing size.

Yes, a Katydid
I'm not sure which one, though.

Angularwing katydid nymph.
This is the nymph of an angularwing katydid in the genus Microcentrum. You can tell by the proportionately short hind legs (in other genera the hind legs are very long). The nymph can't be three inches, though adult females of M. rhombifolium can reach that size.
