Toxomerus marginatus
Male is somewhat lightly marked towards far end of abdomen. Mike, in the future, please try to get a shot straight down from above to show the pattern on back/abdomen.

I'll keep that in mind with these. At the time I didn't know what to go for.

Maybe this should be frassed instead - What do you think?

 
Really, that's up to you.
The images are nice, but not really helpful in identification, plus your state is represented for this month in the Data section. My inclination would be to frass with some reservations. Again, it's your call.

What to go for (flies): Shot from above is the single best thing to have. Something showing wing veins (venation) runs a close second. When IDs get down to the species level, it's often helpful to have a frontal shot of the face. Probably in last place are side shots, though yours were advantageous in this instance. (Like yours, good side shots indicate whether or not there's a margin. Disturbingly often, camera angles are bad and/or margins are obscured by wings.)
