So I decided this must be x-notata for a couple reasons 1. location, 2. found on a building, and 3. triangular dark mark on carapace. Parazygiella dispar found in same range is usually found on coniferous trees and doesn't have the dark triangular mark.

Looks familiar
The abdominal markings look like those of a population in my yard which is either
Zygiella
or
Parazygiella.
These are orb weavers, and 7/16 inch is about as big as they get. I'm also in California fairly near the coast. Rob, if you edit your submission to fill in the county, the records will be more complete.
