Stink Bugs en Masse - Ascra florida

Stink Bugs en Masse - Ascra florida
Blackwater NWR, Dorchester County, Maryland, USA
October 14, 2005
There were lots and lots of these brown stink bugs at Blackwater NWR in Maryland. They were punctate, and did not have big, armored/spined shoulders like many stink bugs have. Help with ID appreciated. Neither huge nor small for a stink bug.

retained as a good sp. in the most recent NA treatment

A suggestion...
Possibly Edessa florida? I found a photo in Stephen Marshall's "Insects" that seems to match. Apparently this is the only member of this genus to reach northeastern North America. Nice photo. :)

both spp. reach MD
both spp. reach MD(1) and can't be distinguished based on dorsal view

Thanks
Sharon, a belated thanks! That does look like a good match. I've made an Edessa florida page and will move this image there.
