Lady Beetles of different paterns mating - Harmonia axyridis

Lady Beetles of different paterns mating - Harmonia axyridis
Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California, USA
October 25, 2009
Taken the next day as these others

good look at the variations
Even without seeing the pronotum and head pattern, the male is certainly H. axyridis based on shape and the visible spots on the wing covers. Although males occasionally try to mate with females of different species, usually they get it right :-) So this is a nice example of two very different colors and patterns of this extremely variable species.
